Description Looks like a standard octagon barrel percussion rifle, however the hammer connects to a cam which connects to an inline hammer/rod which runs about 3/4 the length of the bore. At the end of the bore and about 7″ in length is a small caliber rifled barrel with a nipple on the end that is held in place by a tapered pin. The idea is that you load a projectile only at the muzzle, pull the hammer back, insert a cap on the nipple in the elongated access hole in the bottom of the barrel, set the trigger, and the cap alone propels the projectile to the target. This is marked “PAT.JUL.25.71” in two locations and the number “3”. No makers mark could be found and the stock and hardware look to be in the European style. Antique and ships direct to the buyer. Condition: If this in fact does have all original parts the rating would be Fine by antique standards. The barrel is a mottled patina and the wood showing scattered and light marks from handling and use. Barrel Length: 7″ Serial: NVSN Manufacturer: UNKNOWN Caliber: .22 Model: UNKNOWN
