Description Presenting a Gwyn & Campbell .52 caliber breech loading carbine. Referred to as the “Union” or “Grapevine” carbine, this weapon was the brain child of Edward Gwyn and Abner Campbell of Hamilton, Ohio. This is an underlever, falling block breech loader with a 20″ octagon to round barrel with dovetailed front blade and flip up carbine ladder rear sight, saddle ring, and smooth hardwood stock with crescent steel butt plate. The barrel, receiver, and block are serial matching “4694” and the right side of the receiver is marked “UNION / RIFLE”. The front sight is absent. The stock has the letters “M E W” carved on the left side. Antique and ships direct to buyer. Condition: Metal parts have been cleaned and the bore is dark. The lever and block function however the hammer does not and given its condition we did not want to attempt to operate it. The stock has significant scratches and gouges but its solid.
