Springfield model 1873 trapdoor rifle chambered in .45-70. This rifle dating to 1874 features a 32-1/2″ barrel “V” / “P” / Eagle / “P” proof with fixed bead front and flip-up trapdoor rear sight. The barrel is also marked “N.J.” with adjacent “R”. The trapdoor is marked “MODEL” / “1873” / Eagle / “US”, “US” marked butt plate with added “H” / “22”. The lockplate has been refinished with only a faint part of the wing of the Eagle remaining. The stock has been refinished and sanitized of any markings. Antique, Ships direct to buyers home
Condition: Overall Good with a darkened bore but strong rifling. The barrel, stock and lock plate have been refinished. The barrel shows evidence of cold blue.
