Springfield model 1873 trapdoor rifle chambered in .45-70. This rifle dating to 1876 features a 29-1/2″ barrel “V” / “P” / Eagle / “P” proof with fixed bead front and flip-up trapdoor rear sight. The trapdoor is marked “MODEL” / “1873” / Eagle / “US”, “US” marked butt plate. The lockplate reads “U.S.” / “SPRINGFIELD” / “1873” adjacent to Eagle. The stock has a faint, illegible inspector stamp and circle “P” proof and the number “59” just rear of the tang. Antique, Ships direct to buyers home.

Condition: Overall Fine with a shiny barrel and strong rifling. The stock has and fine, 1″ long surface crack on the right side of the wrist starting at the lock plate. The stock has been sanded.
