Description US Springfield model 1884 trapdoor rifle chambered in .45-70. This example dated 1892 with serial number 547811 features a 32-1/2″ barrel with fixed front blade and Buffington rear sight, round rod bayonet, serrated trigger, and US marked steel butt plate with oiler compartment. The barrel is marked “V / P / Eagle / P”. The stock bears a “SWP / 1892” cartouche, “N” rear of the trigger guard and circle “P”. The top of the stock is marked “8 / NY” indicating NY 8th Militia. There is an “I” carved below that followed by the number “1248”. Antique and ships directly to buyer. Condition: Very Good with the metal turned to a dark patina. The bore is dark but with strong rifling throughout. The stock shows some nicks and scattered marks throughout. The action functions as expected.
