Mannlicher Gew 98/40 in 7.92X57mm (8mm Mauser, Gew 98) with a five round internal magazine capacity and a 24″ barrel. This rifle has been “Sporterized” and is in very good condition. The metal butt-plate is in good condition with light all-over wear, a touch of metal oxidation and light pitting. The hardwood stock is in excellent condition and has been refinished at some point, with sharp checkering and no damage. The receiver and bolt are in very good condition with light scuffs and dings nothing major. The rear adjustable sight and front fixed blade are in excellent functioning condition with little handling wear. The trigger and magazine plate are in very good condition with a ton of finish left and a touch of metal oxidation. The rifled bore is very clean. Smooth bolt action, tight function and crisp trigger pull. The barrel is in very good condition with only a tiny spot of metal oxidation otherwise free of heavy wear.
