Description DESCRIPTION UPDATED: Sources note that this particular serial number range was not part of Colt’s original production run of about 570,000. It may have been from a serial number range used by the CIA to provide deniability of any U.S. Government involvement in clandestine activities. This range of numbers were allegedly used on 1903s that had U.S. Government markings removed from original production guns and stamped with new numbers that do not match any font related to Colt 1903s that were produced. More information may be available in John Brunner’s book on Colt 1903s.
