Springfield model 1863 trapdoor rifle chambered in .50-70. This rifle features a 32-1/2″ barrel with fixed bead front and flip-up trapdoor rear sight. The trapdoor is marked “1870” / Eagle / “US”, “US” marked butt plate. The lockplate reads “U.S.” / “SPRINGFIELD” adjacent to Eagle and “1863” behind the hammer. Antique.
Condition: Overall Fair to Good with dark streaks in the bore but strong rifling. The stock has been completely refinished and sanitized of any markings.
