J. Stevens A&T Company falling block single shot .22 long rifle with a 22″ barrel. This rifle is in very good overall condition. This is a “take-down rifle” and with the loosening of the looped screw the rifle breaks down to field carry. The butt-plate is missing from the rifle. Stock is in fair condition with damage to the butts finish. The wood fore end grip is in very good condition with a few light scuffs and dings no cracks or chips. Receiver is in very good condition with a nice patina and light handling wear throughout. The falling block lever function is good and working but loose when the block is opened. Barrel is in very good condition with a few spots of finish wear from handling and a few scuffs and light scratches. The rifled bore is very clean. Stevens made these between 1864-1915 until New England Westinghouse took over the company. Proof marks on the rifle are as follows: (TRIGGER TANG) “M97” (LEVER) “5” (BARREL) “J. STEVENS A&T CO.
