Made at Harpers Ferry by J.H Hall and dated on the top of breech 1838. The Hall Rifle was the first breech-loading design that was adopted by any Nations Army. These Models were used in the Mexican American War and also saw limited service in the American Civil War. Finish worn butt plate. Smooth one piece wood stock and front forend. Finish worn trigger guard, trigger, frizzen, hammer, breech and barrel. Underside of rifle has a trigger that tips up the breech to load. Under barrel removable cleaning rod.
