Description Antique United States Navy Contract Remington Lee model 1879 chambered in .45-70 Government with one, five round removable magazine and a 26.5″ barrel. Serial number 51915 and Navy serial number 2753. Patinated blued finish. Checkered trigger guard magazine release button. Sporterized with replaced checkered Monte Carlo style stock. MISSING the rear sight and bolt. The top of the receiver ring is marked “U. S. N” over Anchor over “No 2753” over “W. W. K.”. The top of the receiver is marked “REMINGTON ARMS COMPANY, ILION, N Y, U.S.A. SOLE MANUFACTURERS AND AGENTS”. The left side of the receiver is marked “PATENTED NOV.4TH 1879”. Antique ships directly to buyers home in MOST states. Condition: Fair/Good mainly due to having a replaced stock and missing important parts. Scratches, sharp edge wear, and general cosmetic handling wear. Normal internal wear from operation. Spots of patina and metal oxidation on most of the metal parts. Scratches and dings on the wood. Chip of wood missing on the top of the tang. Bright and clean bore with strong rifling.
