Description Rare and desirable U.S. Navy contract Colt model 1911 semi auto pistol chambered in .45 ACP . A manufacture total of 15,037 units makes most firearms rare but factor in the name Colt and model 1911 and you have a winner for the investor and collector of investment grade firearms. This example delivered to the U.S. Navy prior to April 1915 is marked with the two-line, two-block Colt address and patent dates with the Rampant Colt behind the serrations. The right side of the slide reads “MODEL OF 1911 U.S. NAVY”. The blue barrel is stamped “PH” on the chamber, “5” forward of the lug, and “J” on the left of the lug. The left side of the frame has the U.S. property marking and “GHS” circled monogram above the magazine release and serial number on the right. The slide is fitted with blade front and rounded u-notch rear sights, checkered slide catch, thumb safety, magazine catch, and wide hammer, long smooth trigger, smooth flat mainspring housing with lanyard loop, a pair of diamond pattern checkered walnut grips, and magazine with a pinned base with lanyard loop. Ships to FFL/C&R Only. Condition: FINE with evidence of cleaning showing light surface scratches on the slide. Finish loss varies throughout showing a mottled appearance but still quite presentable. The lettering is sharp and the grips free of distractions. The bore is slightly frosted with visible rifling. The action is strong and functions as expected.
