Description Swiss Vetterli model 1869/71 chambered in 10.4x38mm (.41 Swiss Rimfire) with a eleven round tubular magazine and a 33.1″ barrel. Front cleaning rod. Blued barrel, bands, receiver, bolt, trigger, and trigger guard. Adjustable rear sight and fixed front blade. Checkered wood full length forend and smooth straight grip stock with metal butt plate. Rear sling swivel. Appears to be serial number matching, aside from the trigger guard. Multiple small proof marks. The left side of the receiver is marked “SOC.IND.SUISSE”, “SYST.VETTERLIN”. Faded V inside shield with cross cartouche on the right side of the forend. [D8+CI] Mark on the top of the comb. CT Cartouche on the right side of the stock. Numbers written in marker on the bottom of the stock. Antique ships directly to MOST buyers home. Condition: Antique Good/Very good with light scratches, sharp edge wear, and general cosmetic handling wear. Spots of finish thinning and patina. Speckling and spots of metal oxidation throughout. Heavier patina and oxidation on the butt plate. The wood has likely been refinished at some pints. Some scratches and dings in the wood. Decently bright bore given the age, with strong visible rifling. Has some light spots of meal oxidation in the rifling. Action appears to function as expected.
