Description Springfield model 1863 Allin conversion trapdoor rifle chambered in .50-70. Barrel measures 32-1/2″ with fixed front blade and tangent rear sight, walnut stock with “JG” and “ELA” cartouche marks, “1863” marked lockplate stamped with Eagle and “U.S. / SPRINGFIELD”, “1869 / Eagle / U.S.” marked trapdoor, and “U.S.” stamped butt plate. The serial on the breach is 13143 and just forward is a serial that is only partly legible but does not appear to match. The numerals “29” are stamped in the stock and butt plate. Antique and ships directly to buyer. Oversized shipping Condition: Very Good with the metal turned a dark patina. There are light scratches on the lock plate from cleaning. The stock shows signs of light sanding, has scattered marks from handling, but still retains strong cartouche marks. The bore is clean with good rifling and the action functions as expected.
