Description Desirable Civil War Era Spencer 1865 Carbine chambered in .56-50 Spencer with a tubular magazine and a blued 20″ round barrel. Manufactured by Spencer Repeating Rifle Co. with serial number 58082. Patinated case colored frame, hammer, lever, and side plate. Saddle ring and saddle bar. Lever safety forward of the trigger. Smooth wood forend and straight grip stock with case colored butt plate. Adjustable rear ladder sight and fixed front blade sight. The front barrel band is marked “U”. The barrel is marked “M1865”. The top of the frame is marked “SPENCER REPEATING RIFLE CO. BOSTON MASS PAT’D MARCH 6 1860”. Antique ships directly to MOST buyers home. Condition: Antique Good with finish loss, patina, and metal oxidation throughout. The barrel is mostly a brown patina, and the case coloring is partially in the grey with spots of color still visible. Light scratches scuffs and dings on the wood. The wood appears to have been sanded at some point with a partly visible but mostly faded cartouche on the left side of the stock. The action is a little bit stiff but functions as expected. The bore is dark with spots of metal oxidation throughout, but shows strong visible rifling.
