One of around 600 contract rifles made by R&JD Johnson for the U.S. Military in Middletown Connecticut. Finish worn metal butt plate. Smooth wood stock and front forend. Finish worn trigger guard, trigger, lock-plate, frizzen, hammer and barrel. Under barrel removable ramrod. Muzzle end has fixed socket bayonet lug. Front fixed blade sight. Metal loops for mounting a shoulder sling. Comes with socket bayonet marked: P.D. Barrel tang marked 1836. Lock plate marked: 1832. Left side of stock marked: V. Top of wood stock by tang marked: D. Underside of stock bellow trigger guard tang marked: AM. U.S. marked top of butt plate. Serial number 7 on trigger guard, side plate, barrel bands and band retention springs. Antique, Black Powder Muzzle Loader, No FFL required and ships to MOST buyers homes. Condition: Antique, Very Good with light scratches, wood dings, finish wear/loss and light rust. Smooth bore barrel has been replaced in 1836 with a rifled bore. The rifled bore has very light touches of rust otherwise clean.
