Description National Postal Meter M1 Carbine chambered in .30 Carbine with two, ten round removable magazines and a 18.5″ Underwood barrel. The receiver is dated to 1943 with serial number 4100356. The barrel is also dated to 1943 and is marked “UNDERWOOD 10-43” (Flaming Bomb Proof). Parkerized barrel with type 3 barrel band and bayonet lug. Parkerized operating rod, receiver, trigger group, and flat top bolt. Cross bolt safety and push button magazine release. Adjustable rear sight and fixed protected front blade. Straight low wood stock with oval cut and oiler. Two rivet wood top handguard. Mounted reproduction canvas sling and magazine pouch marked “.US. JT&L 1943”. NPM (National Postal Meter) over FJA (Frank J Atwood) and Springfield Armory Cross cannons stock cartouches marked on the right side of the buttstock. “58” Is marked on the tang. “A R P” Is marked on the bottom of the grip. Comes with a U.S. M8A1 bayonet with scabbard and canvas frog. The front of the scabbard is marked “U.S. M8A1 WD”, and the back is marked with scratches off white paint. The frog is marked “88”. Must ship to a FFL or C&R holder. Condition: Very good with general light scratches, contact marks, and cosmetic handling wear. Some wear on the moving/internal parts from operation. Some spots of patina/discoloration on the finish. The stocks has some light scratches and dings. Appears to have been sanded and refinished, but the marking are still visible and relatively crisp considering. Bright and clean bore with strong visible rifling. The bayonet scabbard has some scratches and finish loss on the sharp edges. The blade has spots of metal oxidation, finish loss, and patina. Some scratches and wear on the grips.
