Description Manufactured 1850-51, with around 1000 produced. Also referred to as the “Pocket Model”. The top strap is marked “MASS. ARMS CO. / CHICOPEE FALLS” and the lock is marked “WESSON’S & LEAVITT’S PATENT”. Rear of the cylinder is marked ?2? with no other marks present. The number ?232? is marked on the cylinder face of the frame and the serial number ?813? is marked on the barrel lug and cylinder pin. The number ?849? is marked on the internal cylinder advancement mechanism. The lock, frame and hammer have a strong floral scroll engraving, bladed front sight and notched rear sight, 6 round unmarked cylinder, silver plated brass trigger guard and backstrap, smooth barrel and cylinder, fitted with a two-piece walnut grip. Comes with a wooden case lined in fabric. Included are the following accessories: embossed powder flask, key, brass loading tool and Colt patented brass two cavity factory bullet mold. The mold is marked “COLTS PATENT”.
Condition:
Antique Fine+ overall. The frame, lock and hammer retain most of the plating with strong engraving. The barrel and smooth cylinder retain little to no finish. The trigger guard and backstrap retain a surprising amount of original silver plating. The grip is excellent with minor wear and scattered minor dings. Case is as-is. Missing barrel hook retaining screw and pin.
