Imported by army subcontractor, made by R&C of soligen germany. This 1840 pattern Calvary sword and scabbard shows great battle use wear from Civil war or Indian wars. The scabbard has an even patina throughout. Brass pommel and guard with moderate oxidation, scuffs and dings. The blade has oxidation and very light pitting at the tip. The blade has lots of apparent battle use as seen on the nicks of the balde and a slight swail to the blade commonly seen when a saber melee is done from horseback . Leather and brass wrapped hand guard has some of the leather flaking off. The guard has a small crack where it meets the pommel. Overall, Antique very good condition
