Description Confirmed authentic via Colt Archives, see picture of Colt Letter. Letter is lengthy and includes a special provenance of appearing to be some kind of “sales sample or demo” Colt Bankers Special in .38 Smith & Wesson with a six round capacity and a 2″ barrel. Made in Hartford Connecticut in 1934. Given the “Fitz Special” ( Fitz Gerald Special ) ( Fitz Colt ) which includes shortening the barrel to 2″ or less, bobbing the hammer spur, new front sight, rounding the butt and removing the front half of the trigger guard. John H. Fitzgerald was a retired New York Police officer who worked for Colt between 1918 and 1944. One of under two hundred ever made in the Fitz configuration. Checkered wood grip plates. Blued frame, knurled trigger, hammer, cylinder and barrel. Left side of frame knurled cylinder release. Rear notch and front fixed blade sight. Comes with Colt Factory Archive Letter from Historian confirming this configuration. Cutaway Configuration and 3lb trigger pull. Must ship to a C&R or FFL holder. Condition: Good with light wood dings, touches of rust on the backstrap and light rust/pitting to the right front of frame and barrel. Clean rifled bore.
