Description Rare and highly desirable Colt model 1855 12 gauge revolving cylinder shotgun. Colt manufactured only 1100 examples in 10 to 20 gauge between 1860 and 1863. Known as the New Model Revolving Shotgun, the design is based upon Elisha Root’s side hammer pocket revolver developed in 1855 which bears his name the Colt Root Revolver. This Deluxe example with serial number 1018 features a 30″ barrel with single front bead, 12 gauge – .72″ bore and 5 chamber revolving cylinder, deluxe trigger guard, and diamond checkered hardwood stock. Antique and ships directly to buyer. Condition: Overall Fine condition with all original parts and proper function. This shows typical pitting and corrosion on the cylinder and forward on the receiver. The wood shows mild marks from handling and use but still retains sharp checkering and is free of any cracks or splits.
