Description Colt 1855 Side Hammer Root chambered in .28 Caliber with a five-shot cylinder and a 3.5″ octagonal barrel. Manufactured in 1860 with serial number 22993. In the white barrel, rod, frame, cylinder, single action trigger, and side hammer. Smooth wood grips. Rear notch and front brass bead iron sights. Matching serial numbers on the frame, barrel, and cylinder. The top of the barrel is marked “COLT’S PT 1855”, “ADDRESS COL. COLT HARTFORD CT U.S.A”. Antique, ships directly to buyers home in MOST states. Condition: Antique Fair/Good with most of the finish being in the white with spots of patina and metal oxidation throughout. Scratches, contact marks, and general handling wear. The grips have possibly been sanded at some point, with light scratches and dings. The trigger does not function correctly. The hammer is able to be pulled back and the cylinder correctly rotates but the trigger does not drop the hammer. The hammer does lock and can be lowered as expect but cannot fire. The bore has spots of metal oxidation with good visible rifling. SOLD AS-IS due to function issues.
