Description Civil War era Burnside Carbine Third Model in .54 Burnside with a single round capacity and a 21″ barrel. Four digit serial number of 9396. Patinated blued barrel, frame, hammer, trigger, and lever. Side saddle ring and bar. Straight wood stock with contoured metal butt plate. Missing its iron sights and missing its 9.5″ forend. The top of the frame is marked “BURNSIDE PATENT MARCH25TH 1856”. The right side of the frame/tang is marked “BURNSIDE RIFLE CO. PROVIDENCE RI”. Antique ships directly to most buyers home. Condition: Fair with heavy finish loss, finish patina, and metal oxidation on all of the metal parts. Scratches, scuffs, and dings i the wood with multiple wood fills/repairs. Layer of metal oxidation throughout the bore, but shows decently strong and visible rifling considering the age. Missing its sights and forend.
