Early Type 99 Model of 1939 with a mid barrel band with no mono pod. Rear flip up anti-aircraft sight wings have been removed. Nagoya Arsenal marked on the top rear of receiver. Blued metal butt plate. Smooth butt stock with front finger grooved forend. Blued trigger, guard, downward bent sniper bolt with knurled twist safety knob, receiver and barrel. Rear left side of receiver bolt release. Inside trigger guard located magazine floor plate release. Under barrel short removable cleaning rod and fixed bayonet lug. Rear flip up adjustable and front fixed blade sight. Left side of rifle located metal loops for mounting a shoulder sling. Late production side mount 4×7 scope Number: 8958 marked with Japanese characters that translate to 99-Short with on/off levers to remove the scope. Underside/reverse of scope mount marked: C 5 6 606. The bolt, receiver and front bayonet lug have serial numbers matching. Imperial Chrysanthemum still intact on the top of receiver with a few slashes across it. One of only 10,000 rifle (Sniper) configurations made. No import marks on this rifle. Must ship to a C&R or FFL holder. Condition: Good/Very Good with scratches, wood dings and handling wear. The original rubber eye gasket on the scope has damage. Clean rifled bore.
