17th to 19th Century. Ships Gunwale Mounted Blunderbuss Swivel gun. Maker unknown, likely English,made for the British Navy. Brass, Iron and Steel, with a octagonal to Round 28″ joined and flared barrel and a 2″ bore. Unmarked hardware, barrel with a “D” or “G” plus number “3” Proof marks. 44″ overall length, functions mechanically. Stock shows old repairs and spliced sections, Front Barrel Band is not present. Brass parts have a hazy patina, iron shows pitting and dark brown patina. Stock has a waxy, old finish. Mounted to an attractive wood block base.
