Description U.S. Army Contract Colt 1911 chambered in .45 ACP with three, seven round removable magazines and a 5″ barrel. This pistol is dated to 1918 with serial number 220284. It was part of a contract of 500,000 ordered Sep. 18, 1917. And was shipped in a block of 6,566 pistols serial numbered between 217387-223952. Blued steel frame with lanyard loop and double diamond checkered wood grips. Marked on the left side with “UNITED STATES PROPERTY” and GHS Major Gilbert H. Stewart inspection proof, above the magazine release. Smooth flat main spring housing. Frame mounted thumb safety and grip safety. Single action trigger and hammer. The top of the frame is marked with “H” on top, “5” to the right, and “G” on the bottom. Forward on the top of the frame is marked with an “H”. Blued serrated slide with fixed iron sights. The left side of the slide has the Colt double line, double block patent and manufacturer mark. The rear of the slide has the Rampant Colt logo. The right side of the slide is marked “MODEL OF 1911. U.S.ARMY”. The inside of the slide is marked with “G”. The rear of the slide is stamped with “H”. “P” over “H” marked partially blued barrel. The bottom of the barrel is marked with an “X”. Comes with three magazines and a green canvas double magazine pouch. One magazine is blued and unmarked. The second is blued and marked “C-L” on the bottom. And the third is is parkerized and marked “C-L” on the bottom as well. Must ship to a FFL or C&R holder. Condition: Good with scratches, contact marks, and general cosmetic handling wear. Varying spots of metal oxidation and pitting throughout. Spots of finish discoloration/patina. Notches/contact marks on the frame where the slide interfaces. The markings are still visible relatively crisp considering the age. Light scratches and marks on the wood. The bore is bright and shows strong rifling, but also has small spots of pitting throughout most of the bore.
