Description Colt Cavalry model single action army revolver chambered in .45 LC. This example with serial number 137532 and dating to 1891 was included in a shipment to the United States Government on January 20, 1891 per the Colt Archives. Records indicate this was most likely part of the final contract with Colt consisting of 2000 revolvers, and one of the 1000 pieces in the initial lot which was completed on February 16th, 1891. Included in this lot was serial number 137595 which recently sold at auction for over $750,000. This example is all numbers matching, properly stamped “U.S” on frame, and bears ordnance Sub-Inspector Rinaldo A. Carr initials “RAC” on the barrel, cylinder, frame, grip strap, and left grip panel. Per information obtained from the letter of John Kopec (included with this lot, this was likely part of a group of revolvers that remained unissued and stored at the Springfield Armory until sold as “surplus” during the 1920’s. Antique and ships direct to buyer. Condition: Fine with all original parts and showing over 30% original finish. There is thinning on the high points and finish loss at the muzzle and left side of the barrel from holster wear. There is just a hint of case coloring remaining. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and the action functions as expected with tight lock up. Barrel Length: 7-1/2″ Serial: 137532 Manufacturer: Colt Year: 1891 Caliber: .45 LC Model: Calvary
