This rifle was purchased from The Department of The Army, Director of Civilian Marksmanship, and was shipped from Anniston Army Depot in Anniston Alabama. The receiver is dated to 1945 with serial number 3704959. The barrel is dated 1945 as well and marked “3 S A 4 45”. Front bayonet lug mounted on the gas tube. Winchester operating rod marked “D 35382W.R.A.”. Springfield Armory bolt marked “D28287-12SA S-05(Diamond)”. The right side of the receiver under the stock is marked “0 8 7 A E D 28291 35”. The rear of the receiver is marked “U.S. RIFLE CAL. .30 M1 SPRINGFIELD ARMORY 3704959”. Springfield Armory trigger group marked “G528290-SA”. Adjustable rear peep sight and protected front blade. Parkerized finish with smooth wood forend and National Match stock. The stock is stamped with National Match logo on the left side, and “P” on the grip. Metal trap door butt plate (empty).
