Description Rare and desirable Springfield Armory Model of 1911 U.S. Army semi auto pistol chambered in .45 caliber with one, seven round removable magazine and a 5″ barrel. This is one of 27,855 Model 1911 pistols manufactured by Springfield Armory between December 1912 and April 1917. This example dating to 1915 and finished in the original dull rust blue features a “P/H” marked barrel, fixed front blade, flat top notched rear sight, and knurled long hammer, and oil-finished checkered walnut stocks with oversized diamonds surrounding the escutcheons. The right side of slide is marked with the Springfield Eagle and to the right “MODEL OF 1911.U.S.ARMY.”. The left side of the slide is roll-stamped with the three-line Colt patent markings on left and to the right “SPRINGFIELD ARMORY/U.S.A.” in two lines followed by an Ordnance ‘Shell and Flame’ insignia rear of the serrations. The right side of the frame is roll-stamped with the serial number, “No 114081”, rear of the slide stop hole. The left side of the frame is roll-stamped with “UNITED STATES PROPERTY” forward of the trigger and the ‘Shell and Flame’ insignia above the magazine release. The Springfield Armory “S” mark is stamped on the inside of the barrel bushing and the inside of the slide stop. Included is one period magazine with a two pin base and lanyard loop. Ships to FFL/C&R Only. Condition: Overall Very Good with a few scattered spots of freckling and few small pits on the right side of the slide. There is some finish loss on the high spots and front grip strap. The bore is clean with just a slight hint of frosting and strong rifling and the action functions as expected.
