| Less than 1800 exist, with approximately 850 going to the Marine Corp and 926 civilian versions shipped elsewhere. The trigger and hammer have that renowned Colt fire bluing that really sets this gun apart from others. This particular first year production example has a unique provenance…. Colt Factory letter confirms that it was given and shipped to Wilfred E. House. “Billed to: Advertising Account” meant that it was given at no charge. Sgt. Wilfred E. House was listed as a Sharpshooter with the CT National Guard in 1903. We speculate that he was given this gun to evaluate it and potentially advocate for its adoption in the Connecticut National Guard.See supporting documents. This is a commercial/civilian marked model (no USMC on heel or inspection marks) which still landed in the hands of a Sharpshooter.

43 | Colt New Army 1892 DA .38 Revolver
| Colts first standard issue swing out revolver. Like many, this one has had the serial number rubbed out on the butt and the lanyard removed. “RAC” inspector markings (Ronaldo A. Carr) are located on the back of cylinder, with several small sub-inspector marks visible on the latch, underneath the barrel, cylinder, inside the frame, and on the crane. The barrel on the Model 1892’s were serial numbered to the rest of the gun, which was unique to the first year DA’s. This gun has a barrel that is numbered to the frame which identifies it as unique to the Model 1892. This can be definitively identified as one of the original 1st Contract Model 1892’s that was produced in the year 1893 upgraded by Colt or Springfield Armory to the 1894 (hence the 1895 patent date on the early barrel). Left side of barrel is marked “COLT D.A. 38”.Other numbers are assembly numbers and do not necessarily mean replaced parts. Checkered walnut grips are probably replacements (done by an individual or factory) as the 1892 military had smooth walnut. We feel that this was re-blued at some point in the early 1900’s. The bluing is period correct however there are several “RAC” inspector marks missing as well as the info on the butt.
Very Good to Excellent, Despite the many changes, these were done by Colt or SA. The re-bluing looks older and Pre-1960. Grips look original colt and heavily worn, but probably not original to this gun. *C&R Eligible | 400.00 | 800.00 | 200.00 |

104 | Springfield 1898 Carbine Type 3 Rifle
| Less than 5,000 of the 1898 Carbine produced, the serial number (120020) is perfectly in range, early. The left side of the receiver is marked: “U.S. / MODEL 1898. SPRINGFIELD ARMORY 120020” in two lines. The left stock wrist is missing the stamp with the inspectors initials in a rectangle and the sling bar. A circled, script “P” proofmark is stamped behind the trigger guard. A “M” is stamped just ahead of the circled “P” or behind the trigger. This gun has all correct sights, appropriately marked “C” in all areas that should have it and follows Brophy’s guide for type 3 configuration during re-ordnance except for the “Humped” wood handguard. The finish on the wood is excellent and does not appear to be refinished or cartouches scrubbed
This carbine appears to have had the following arsenal up-grades: (1) replacement M1899 pattern stock with longer forearm and no provision for sling bar, (2) Model 1901 Carbine rear sight and (3) Model 1898 Rifle pattern hand guard without sight protector hump. We feel 1 of 2 things may have happened to this piece. 1) it is a unique gun/configuration, we find this possible as it may have been sent back to Springfield early on do to the common breakage of the stock. The 1901 Carbine sight would typically have the “hump” wood forearm OR 2) the rear sight / wood forearm was replaced with correct original pieces. Aside from the above notes, it is in Antique Grade excellent. Bluing is greater than 80% with only some patina development on the left side of the receiver, top of bolt is worn with old pitting. The stock is in excellent condition with only minor handling marks and impressions from storage. Butt plate is scratched, compartment is missing the cleaning rod. *C&R Eligible | 3,000.00 | 6,000.00 | 1,000.00 |
105 | Two Military WWII Colt Government 1911 Pistols
| Group of Two WWII service used Colt 1911 Pistols with family provenance:
The following letter was written by LtCol. Safton’s son who delivered these two guns to us personally: “The two military issued 45’s were owned by my father LTC Robert Safton. He flew combat missions across the “Hump” in WWII. The hump is China, Burma, & India. He was a decorated command pilot earning an Air Medal & Distinguished Flying Cross from U.S.A.F The Blue 45 was his service issued weapon. The gun was carried over the course of his 16yr active duty career. The chrome was used as an officers dress gun & worn as a sidearm for events. Overall, Col Safton served for 28 years. Richard Safton, Son” Colt 1911 mfg in 1917 (double war gun) shows some repairs and customization. The takedown lever is newer, front sight has been replaced, ejector rod is newer, and trigger is not original. The finish is a mottled cross between re-bluing and parkerized. The grips are clear plastic like material. This gun saw years of service by a dedicated soldier and it shows. “RIA” inspection stamp. Colt two line patent and address are prominent but the rampant colt logo is faint. “UNITED STATES PROPERTY” is faint. Good overall condition. Colt 1911A1 U.S Army has most original parts except for front sight, barrel is colt but a replacement. Chrome finish with personalized grips added. “WB” inspector mark. Slide serial matches gun. Grip holds up mag release. Mfg markings are good. *C&R Eligible | 1,500.00 | 2,500.00 | 500.00 |

109 | Radom VIS 35 (P35) Nazi Proofed
| The FB Vis was a well engineered pistol based on the John Browning designs . Most collectors would say it is a cross between the Browning Hi Power and the 1911 chambered in the popular 9mm para. Production of these started in 1935 and in 1939 the Germans conquered Poland and continued the production of the FB Vis now known as the Radom P35. This model is commonly known as the type 2 for having all three control levers (Decocker, Slide release, and take down). Additionally, this model is nicely marked with German Waffenamt marks in numerous locations. The grips are a rare addition of trench art. Crafted from the windshield of a vehicle or airplane, they were heated and shaped into a crude shape. The soldier then forced a French coin dated 1939 into the grips.
Battle worn but in excellent shape given the circumstances. Mechanically excellent. Only missing one grip screw. Trigger, action, and slide are finely crafted with smooth movement, common with the earlier Radoms. Original magazine included. Bluing is better than 70%. No rust, some old pitting marks on slide.
