UPDATE: We reviewed the letter from Purdey, the gun was originally born with 30″ barrels. The barrels currently are 28″ in length and have been cut. We have added our own measurements in the pictures. One of Purdey’s first patents, this early center fire shotgun uses a unique thumb lever in the trigger guard to release the lock and open the barrels. Finely crafted as with all Purdey’s, this one is no exception. See Purdey letter for specifications. 30″ chain link Damascus steel barrels with a ivory front bead and flat middle bead. Wonderful bronze patina, free of defects. Properly proofed on barrel flats and water table with crown over V. Modest splinter forend and straight English stock made from fine walnut. Hammer side locks, frame and fences beautifully engraved with very tight floral scroll. Screws and hinges detailed engraved with rosettes and flowers. Plain butt with aggressive checkering. Choke is MOD/MOD per letter however they are currently Cylinder due to the cut barrels. Comes with original Purdey oak trunk case. ANTIQUE, ships direct to buyer. Condition: Excellent Antique. Barrels have only one scratch near breech on finish, otherwise finish is original and prominent. Bores are mirror bright. Frame has silvered out. Mechanically excellent. Lock up is excellent plus.
