1 – Full length stock full octagon, smooth bore 36″ barreled percussion rifle in .45 caliber stamped “J. JOHNSON” on top of the barrel. Silver blade fore-sight with small, v notch rear sight. The lock plate has some etching but nothing legible. This features a set trigger which does not function but has excellent spring tension. The brass furniture includes fore-end cap, ramrod thimbles, trigger guard, toe and butt plate and fancy cartridge trap. The hardwood stock features several silver inlays that run through the length of the stock and a wooden ramrod. 2 – Half length stock full octagon, eight groove bore 36″ barreled percussion rifle in .36 caliber stamped “WELLSBURGH” on top of the barrel. Brass blade fore-sight with elk horn rear sight. The lock plate is marked “H ELWELL WARRANTED”. This features a set trigger which does not function but has excellent spring tension. The metal furniture includes fore-end cap, ramrod thimbles trigger guard and butt plate. The toe plate is missing. The hardwood stock features a scant Monte Carlo cheek piece with silver inlays and several silver inlays that run along the side of the stock. Included is a metal ramrod. Both examples exhibit a brown patina with pitting surrounding the combustion point. Both actions do not work as expected but exhibit good spring tension.
